Company Politics >:(

Ok so I had a very frustrating night at work tonight. Oh, for those who don't know I finally got a job lol. I work in a production environment. For now, until they get me trained on a machine I sort through these little pipettes of sugar water that are made to give to babies for whatever reasons. Last week when I was told how to do it I was told to look for defects in the plastic - black spots and such - as well as leaks, bad form, correct fill level and whatever else. Well I already noticed I was finding a LOT more spots on them than the other people I worked with. I'm younger and have really good eye site and I'm working with 45 to 60 year olds. What do you expect? Well today this lady who was acting as supervisor until we get one told me I was being too picky and must be looking them over too long. Being that picky causes too many rejects and costs the company too much money. I needed to only spend a couple of seconds glancing at them so we could speed things up. I told her thats what I was doing. She told me well them hold them farther away, like 18 inches. I was like, umm, I am. She got annoyed and sarcastically told me, well your sight is just too good ten. She didn't believe me! Well I'm sorry you're unobservant and blind lady, I really am seeing those that fast. Oh, and I was told to get on her good side because she has a lot of pull around the company. Guess that went well. So in order to find less flaws and get through things faster I basically have to slack. I don't even pay attention to if there could be flaws, I just look at the fill level and the tip to make sure its sealed and put it aside. It just annoyed me really bad because all during orientation and training and while reading the signs on the walls that I'm sure no one reads I had to hear about how the company cares so much about quality when its crap. The company does not put quality above every thing else, they put it right in the middle like every other company out there. Its only one factor just like speed and price and everything else is a factor. Telling the customer you care about quality to that extent is just a bunch of crap politics just like at every other place. You're not getting top notch quality, you're getting as much quality as they feel like spending on you. I know thats how every place is, but to create these bogus slogans is what really annoys me.

Also, I used to work in an office as two different companies and I know what goes into writing up procedures and the million different forms you have to fill out to make sure everything is kept track of. So to be working in the production side of things and see how slack some people are with filling things out and keeping track of things and follow written procedure like they're supposed to - its annoying! Like the sink. We have to rinse these things off if the sugar water gets on them because they're sticky. I have to learn how before and when you're done rinsing them and putting them in a rack to dry you have to sign off saying the area is clean and neat. So I walk over there tonight and the guy who's been there for at least months, maybe years, had the area a mess! There is a ton of water all over the counter and back of the sink. 8 paper towels later it was better but still not dry. Why do they bother teaching people the right way to do things? Seriously, if I ever own a company I'm going to fire people for not doing things right. Oh wait, I'll never own one because I'm not willing to play the foolish political game everyone else plays and make up catching and lying statements and such.

Ok enough ranting... I need sleep.
